This is version 2.0 of the white paper focused on our program that links Cloud Computing to this political analysis by economist Don Drummond.

Our main thesis is that Cloud is the ideal technology to achieve the large-scale efficiency improvements required for the equally large-scale cost reductions.

To illustrate this we identify some key transformation areas and how they can be addressed by the latest Cloud solutions from players such as Microsoft and Salesforce.com, headlined under a theme of “GovCloud 2.0″.

We also propose a double-whammy where more use of local Cloud start-ups would also further boost the economy and address the dreaded ‘Innovation Gap’. To best demonstrate the principle we also approached this document as a showcase tool of local Ontario firms who have new Cloud ventures relevant to the goals of the Drummond Report.

Given public sector deficit reduction is a global issue then it provides a frame of reference for the international potential of these firms at the same time as their immediate tactical opportunities too.
